A bouquet of cedar, spice and red fruit with little of the veggie aroma that
can be common with this varietal. Overall, it’s a very elegant wine, lighter
in body with medium-high acidity and earthy minerality that should appeal
to those seeking a more restrained style of winemaking. Very food
friendly due to it’s acid profile, pairs equally well with salmon, chicken,
pork or fresh vegetables from your garden.

Winemaking Notes

Most Napa Cabernet Franc is grown and made as though it was Cabernet Sauvignon, but we really wanted to make this wine in the style of some of our favorite wines from the Loire region of France. Picked based on acidity, resulting in lower alcohol and not clobbered with new oak, we feel this wine is a good balance between old world and new.

 

100% Cabernet Franc

This is our first vintage where we were able to keep some of our own Cabernet Franc from our cool climate vineyard in Carneros. Previously it has gone into other high-end wines around Napa, and featured here by itself, we believe you can see why. We picked it the day before a freak hail storm came that would have completely ruined our crop.
